Heather Thompson joined the Office of Undergraduate Curricula in 2015. As the Course Evaluation Coordinator, she has provided continual improvement to the Student Evaluations of Teaching processes including being an active participant in the implementation of the Explorance Blue Course Evaluation software at UNC, in which she has earned Explorance certifications as a Blue Administrator and a Blue Expert. She has also expanded support and training resources for faculty and staff for SET and TCRE processes, implemented and manages the application process for the Course Substitution Committee, worked with College Leadership to draft an updated policy for general education Global Language credit, and implemented and manages the application processes for the Global Language Educational Experience and Language Proficiency Verification processes. Prior to joining the Office of Undergraduate Curricula, she worked in IT support for a small company that sold tools and equipment for the electrical utility industry and spent several years as an ice cream maker. Heather earned her undergraduate degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from North Carolina State University and a Master of the Arts in English with a concentration in Community College Teaching from Appalachian State University. She enjoys writing, reading, cross stitch, sewing, baking, and volunteering as a Municipal Liaison for her local region of National Novel Writing Month.
