To understand how courses that you have taken elsewhere transfer to UNC-Chapel Hill, you will find it helpful to review and understand the requirements of Carolina’s Making Connections Curriculum.

The North Carolina Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) is a statewide agreement governing the transfer of credits between North Carolina Community Colleges and North Carolina public universities. General Administration recently approved a new, revised CAA, effective fall 2014 for students entering the community college system. Several General Education requirements at UNC-Chapel Hill are not covered under the CAA. See details below.

North Carolina comprehensive articulation agreement (fall 2014): UNC-Chapel hill requirements

  • Your Foundations requirements have been fulfilled, with the exception of your Foreign Language (FL) and Lifetime Fitness (LFIT), or other courses specifically required for your major and/or minor. Individually transferred courses as part of the NCCC are eligible to fulfill the FL and LFIT requirements.
  • Your Approaches requirements are fulfilled, with the exception of courses required for your major and/or minor. Individually transferred courses as part of the NCCC are eligible to fulfill the courses required for your major and/or minor.
  • Your Connections requirements are fulfilled.
  • Individually transferred courses as part of the NCCC are eligible to fulfill the Supplemental General Education requirement.

North Carolina comprehensive articulation agreement (before fall 2014): UNC-Chapel hill requirements

  • Your Foundations requirements have been fulfilled, with the exception of your Foreign Language (FL) and Lifetime Fitness (LFIT), or other courses specifically required for your major and/or minor. Individually transferred courses as part of the NCCC are eligible to fulfill the FL and LFIT requirements.
